These drawings illustrate the first part of my epic novel 'In Caesar's Shadow'. 113 AD: a young legionary called Marcus goes AWOL in search of his brother who was serving with a cohort ambushed by the Britons north of what will be Hadrian's Wall. In the course of his journey he discovers differences between himself and his comrades and begins a longer journey in search of truth and self-knowledge.
